The Stars and Stripes Learning Station (SaSLS) is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs. The Academy is a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAYEC), the nation's largest organization of early childhood educators. Accreditation is a voluntary comprehensive process of internal self-study and external professional review of approximately 140 criteria which cover all aspects of a child care center including:
  • Frequent, positive, warm interactions among adults and children.
  • Planned learning activities appropriate to children's age and development.
  • Specially trained teachers.
  • Enough adults to respond to individual children.
  • Many varied age-appropriate materials.
  • A healthy and safe environment for children.
  • Nutritious meals and snacks.
  • Transportation for field trips and before and after school.
  • Regular communication with parents who are always welcome visitors.
  • Effective administration.
  • On-going evaluation.
    • Infant and toddler care
    • Pre-school, kindergarten readiness training
    • Full day kindergarten
    • Before and after school age care
    • Summer camp for school age children

FACILITY

The SaSLS facility is located on the beautiful grounds of the historic Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center. The Station is a state of art day care center with a capacity of 124.

Our new state-of-the-art facility provides:

  • Classrooms created specifically for young children.
  • Handicap accessible.
  • Outdoor play spaces designed and built for exploration and physical activity.

Hours or Operation:  6:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Special Program!

SaSLS offers a full day program for three (3) age groups:
• 21/2 – 3yrs.
• 3 – 4yrs
• Pre-Kindergarten 4 – 5 yrs

All programs follow the NAEYC curriculum guidelines that have been developed to nourish and foster the educational needs of young children and to prepare them to be successful students in the future.
